Osprey Aircraft of the Aces SC (1994) 33-1ST

Volume 33 - 1st printing. "Nieuport Aces of World War 1!" Written by Norman Franks. Art by Harry Dempsey. The French Nieuport company provided the Allied air forces with the first true fighter scout of World War 1 in the shape of the diminutive XI of 1915. Based on the Bebe racer, built for the abandoned Gordon-Bennett Trophy of the previous year, the aircraft utilised a sesquiplane (lower wing much smaller than the upper wing) arrangement which gave the XI extreme manoeuvrability. It was the only scout respected by the all-conquering German Fokker E-series of 1915-16, and was flown by French, British, Russian, Belgian and Italian aces. The XI was replaced from May 1916 onwards by the bigger and more powerful XVII. which proved to be one of the best fighters of World War 1. Softcover, 96 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $22.95.

Ambrose Chase, the team's "Third Man" since 1995. And they're all in deep trouble. All three of them are on a field mission to a place where a spacecraft has seemingly fallen out of nowhere. And, in reality, it has ? because it is the first vessel to have been sent into a literal non-reality. This is why the Drummer never goes on field missions anymore, and why Planetary needed a new Third Man. FC, 32 PGS. Cover price $2.50.

    Pulp Fantastic (2000) 3
    Published Apr 2000 by DC.

SON OF SUPERMAN writers Howard Chaykin and David Tischman join artist Rick Burchett (BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES) for an offbeat mixture of classic film noir, science fiction and psychological thrillers. Featuring covers pencilled by Chaykin and inked by Burchett, PULP FANTASTIC follows the adventures of dashing detective Vector Pope on an artificial planet run by diehard religious fanatics who left Earth at the end of 1999. What appears to be a simple missing-persons case quickly turns seamy and steamy as Pope has dangerous run-ins with the law and a drug-addicted android whose body is a deadly weapon. It's a violent, passionate and humorous story illustrated in a quasi-animated style which provides a unique counterpoint to its lurid backdrop of sex, corruption, church politics, and hypocrisy."
