1st printing. Written by Paco Hernandez. Art and cover by Jose Angel Ares. Emma, a newly single cartoonist in her thirties, impulsively finds herself standing in Roncesvalles with her gaze fixed on Santiago de Compostela. Following the pilgrimage route known as The Way of St. James, she realizes the path she is traveling is bringing her closer to and somehow farther away from everyone around her, that the weight of her backpack is more than the clothes and pans inside, and that what she believed to be a simple walk to get some miles behind her (and her past) is a chance to learn not only about the people she meets along the way, but also herself. Creators Paco Hernández & José Ángel Ares bring you a story of friendship, family and learning. An emotional journey from which no one will return being the same. Softcover, 172 pages, full color. Mature Readers Cover price $19.99.

1st printing. Written by Stephan Friedt. Cover by Dave Stevens. Author Stephan Friedt shares the story of the meteoric rise of the Schanes brothers' California-based imprint Pacific Comics, which published such legends as Jack Kirby, Sergio Aragonés, Steve Ditko, Neal Adams, Mike Grell, Bernie Wrightson, and Dave Stevens. From its groundbreaking 1981 arrival in the fledgling direct sales market, to a catastrophic, precipitous fall after only four years, The Pacific Comics Companion reveals the inside saga, as told to Friedt by Bill and Steve Schanes, David Scroggy, and many of the creators themselves. It also focuses on the titles and the amazing array of characters they introduced to an unsuspecting world, including The Rocketeer, Captain Victory, Ms. Mystic, Groo the Wanderer, Starslayer, and many more. Written with the editorial assist of Eisner Award-winning historian Jon B. Cooke, this retrospective is the most comprehensive study of an essential publisher in the development of the creator's rights movement. Main cover illustration by Dave Stevens. Softcover, 8-in. x 11-in., 160 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $29.95.

Penguin Classics Marvel Collection: Fantastic Four HC (2023 PC) 1-1ST

    (see more images)

    1st printing. Collects Fantastic Four (1961-1996 1st Series) #1-5, 10-11, and 48-51 and Fantastic Four (1961-1996 1st Series) Annual #6.

Written by Stan Lee. Art by Jack Kirby, George Klein, Sol Brodsky, Dick Ayers, and Joe Sinnott. Cover by Jack Kirby. Foreword by Jerry Craft. Introduction by Ben Saunders. Series Edited by Ben Saunders.

Illustrated throughout, The Penguin Classics Marvel Collection presents specially curated comic book anthologies of the origin stories, seminal tales, and characters of the Marvel Universe to explore Marvels transformative and timeless influence on an entire genre of fantasy.

It is impossible to imagine American popular culture without Marvel Comics. For decades, Marvel has published groundbreaking visual narratives that sustain attention on multiple levels: as metaphors for the experience of difference and otherness; as meditations on the fluid nature of identity; and as high-water marks in the artistic tradition of American cartooning, to name a few. For the first time, these classic stories of some of the most iconic super heroes in the artistic tradition of American cartooning, to name a few.

Throughout the 1960s, The Fantastic Four doubled as both the flagship title and the creative laboratory of the Marvel Universe. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced dozens of new characters and concepts in its pages, while expanding the emotional bandwidth and visual vocabulary of the super hero genre with every issue. This collection gathers some key tales from Lee and Kirbys lengthy tenure—from their first experiments in generic hybridity through to the remarkable fusion of the cosmic and the quotidian that is the The Galactus Trilogy.

A foreword by Jerry Craft, and a scholarly introduction and a general series introduction by Ben Saunders offer further insights into the enduring significance of the Fantastic Four and classic Marvel comics.

    Hardcover, 360 pages, full color.

    Cover price $50.00.
